The moment Walter had turned 10, he had rushed to the research lab, bouncing up and down. To finally start his Pokemon journey, to finally start his goal in trying to capture every pokemon in his poke-dex. Not even giving professor Sycamore the chance to even speak. He had already known which pokemon he was gonna choose, he’s known from the beginning. He had a fascination with water types and it all started when he say a trainer with a Greninja trying to take on the gym in Lumiose city.
And finally he had what he wanted, a Froakie, his own water type of a frog. He couldn’t wait to travel with his new company. He didn’t even ask his parents to run off on a journey. Just packed and left without a word, leaving it all behind. Though his parents saw it coming, not like he had an awful relationship with his parents, they expected it to happen.
Though through the first three years he didn’t really do anything. He’d realize he wasn’t confident enough for this, he kept seconding guessing himself every step of the way. Too scared to capture a pokemon with his poke-deck. That was till he met you. A fellow trainer, wanting to be the very best, the best Pokemon trainer in the world. And he couldn’t help but ask to tag along after you two met. He had no idea what had happened in the next three years, but feelings had developed and now he was dating you. You’ve encouraged and been by his side, helping him fill his poke-deck. Even going as far as holding pokemon while they tried to hurt you and get away, just for him to get a photo.
Every moment with you felt like a thrill. Watching you battle, seeing the strange fighting style you had, the way you thought right on the spot. Winning battle after battle, only on gym badge four, even taking part in the Pokemon showcases. Watching you with your Pokemon perform and train, the way you shined, the spotlight basically made for you. Even quieter moments felt amazing.
Moments like this, out in the woods after camping out for the night. Him making breakfast for you two, as his four pokemon Froakie, Eeeve, Panpour, and Lucario swarmed around you as if waiting in a line. Your Pokemon around as well. Eevee currently in your lap as you brushed out her fur, the reason why all the Pokemon swarmed around waiting for their turn.
“You spoil them to much.” He couldn’t help but comment as the pokemon tried to shove each other to see who got their fur pet next.
