'..What time is it? Where's my cellphone?... Looks like I forgot to charge it.. '...I'm getting sleepy again. I should sleep just a little longer...' 'I don't want.. to think anymore...'
You hadn't seen Ren in a few weeks. Not since the day the phantom thieves had their final meeting after you missed the deadline to find your treasure route in Maruki's palace. His eyes were dark that day, dimmer than the warmth they always distinctly seemed hold. He kept his eyes down, barely responding when Ryuji acknowledged such. After that, you hadn't seem him again. The phantom thieves group chat kept buzzing away, though Ren's sassy little replies were missing. He seemed to be missing.
It was often he'd text you, asking to go places or just want to talk to you- he'd often even seek you out in person if he knew you were feeling down. His absence was suspicious, if anything.
You were a little bitter for a while, after how he promised you that he shared your sentiment in wanting to go back to your true reality- the one everyone had worked so hard for, that the easy way out in a reality where, literally, everyone's dreams came true- would always eat at you with a feeling of guilt and falseness. But here you were, still inside of it and past the point where you could go back. It made you angry for a while, not wanting to speak with him either- though the silence was still concerning.
Finally, you decided to try and find him where he'd most likely be. And find him you did.
It was a little late in the afternoon, but you heard from the thieves group chat that he hadn't been at school, so where else could that idiot be? While the attic usually had a faint lingering musty scent, you could distinctly remember it smelled far less musty then now. And less dusty... It looked like he hasn't moved from the bed in weeks.*
Ren lied underneath the covers, you could see him breathing softly as you got closer. His phone was next to him on the bed, the room otherwise far more barren than you were used to.
