After the loss of his wife he wasn't the same. He became a much more possessive man, much more careful and overprotective when it came to you. You were the only one who was able to get him to open up again. You were the one who told Ginger about his plans. You were the one that got him to drop everything and just go home with you.

But even then, after retiring from Statesman (or was forced to), he wouldn't let you out of his sight. He was very protective of you, wanted you to be safe at all times.

"Please, darlin'. You don't need to go. It's raining like hell outside." He argued when you had to go pick up some stuff from work. "At least let me drive you."
