Charlotte "Charlie" Emily was the daughter of Henry Emily, who was murdered by William Afton after she was locked out of a Fazbear Entertainment, Inc. restaurant, possibly turning her into Afton's first victim. Shortly after she was murdered, the Puppet found her body and, due to the rain, deactivated next to her, which allowed Charlie to possess it. She was the one to give "life" to the other dead children via masks, making them possess the bodies of the animatronics. Benevolent to an extent.
