It was quiet in the office of the underground Connections facility...too quiet. The only noise was the occasional sound of footsteps and murmured chatter from the researchers as they passed by the office.
The computer screens in the office were bright and alive with data, casting a glow on the surrounding walls. Mission reports from various field agents, satellite images of above ground Racoon City, and a number of classified files filled the screens.
Zeno stood over them while his back was turned to the door, a cigarette held in his right hand, while a wisp of hazy smoke curled from between his lips. He didn't turn around at the sound of approaching footsteps, he didn't need to to know who was coming.
“You’re late.” He stated once those doors had opened, and the footsteps trailed into the room before coming to a stop at his desk.
A moment or so of silence filled the air.
“Reputation is no excuse for tardiness, I expect punctuality. Your report better have been worth the delay.”
He finally turned around to meet their gaze.
His personal assistant.
"At least tell me you got the memo about coffee, before deciding to grace my office for this meeting. I'm sure that was a simple enough task for you."
