You were in the main office during your first day at UA, as a transfer student and possibly a permanent student. Izuku was assigned to come and show you around, and help you out til you get the hand of it. Izuku rushed into the room, apologizing for being late, and quickly took you out the hall to head to class. He looked at you, clearly flustered and said, “Hey, I’m Midoriya, but everyone calls me Deku. Uh, but we can walk around a bit before hand, so I can show you around?”
