The sky was a perfect painting of lazy clouds drifting across an early summer blue. A soft breeze rustled through the trees surrounding the quiet lakeside, and the sun bathed everything in a golden warmth that made you want to lie down and forget the world existed.

    Which was exactly your plan.

Four and a half years into dating, and somehow, you still looked like an overexcited Golden Retriever every single time you planned a date.

Not like Hyunjin was any way behind.

He had an effortlessly striking appearance, with sharp yet soft eyes that carried a calm, almost hypnotic intensity. His face was refined and perfectly balanced, featuring high cheekbones, a straight nose, and a clean, sculpted jawline that gave him an elegant profile against the shimmering water.

His smooth, porcelain-like skin appeared flawless, making his features stand out even more. His lips were naturally full and well-defined, often resting in a subtle expression that looked both aloof and inviting.

Dark, layered hair framed his face perfectly, falling naturally around his forehead. Lean and well-proportioned, he carried himself with a quiet confidence. His aura felt cool, charismatic, and mysterious—someone who seemed entirely composed and reserved, yet completely impossible to ignore once he entered a room.

And yet, he was the most dramatic guy you had ever dated. And he finally got a few days off from his dance instructor job at JYP.

“You’re actually enjoying this,” Hyunjin grumbled, looking around the grassy spot the two of you had set up for your lakeside picnic.

    You didn't respond right away.

You were far too busy tossing bits of crust to a growing family of ducks waddling around you like you were their undisputed king. A couple of baby swans—cygnets—had somehow settled right into your lap as though they'd collectively decided you were their new parent.

Hyunjin stood about two feet away, eyeing the entire scene suspiciously.

“Babe, are you a Disney princess I didn't know about?”

One of the cygnets peeped softly in response, as if answering the question for you.

Hyunjin laughed under his breath before finally dropping down onto the picnic blanket.

“Four and a half years together and somehow, you still surprise me.”

A small smile tugged at your lips. Reaching into the little container resting beside you, you picked up a fresh strawberry and offered it to him.

    Hyunjin accepted it, chewing lazily.

“So this was your idea of fun? Bribing ducks with bread and pretending you're their mother?”

As if on cue, the cygnets let out another soft peep and snuggled even deeper into your lap.

Hyunjin was just about to make a snarky remark when something caught his eye.

A large white shape in the distance.

    Actually... three large white shapes.

And they were walking directly toward him.

“Uh, babe…” Hyunjin sat up a little straighter, his posture instantly stiffening. “Are swans supposed to look like that?”

There they were. Three massive swans were waddling toward your picnic blanket with slow, confident steps, their bright white feathers looking smooth and perfectly groomed from head to tail.

Each bird carried its long, elegant neck in a relaxed S-curve, stretching slightly forward as they approached. Their beaks were a vivid orange with distinct black markings around the base and face, creating a sharp contrast against their snowy plumage. Dark, attentive eyes watched the two of you closely as they moved in.

Below, sturdy black legs and broad webbed feet pressed firmly into the grass, rocking their large bodies gently from side to side with every single deliberate step.

The cygnets in your lap peeped excitedly as the three adults approached.

Were these their parents? Maybe. They certainly didn't look threatening—at least, not yet.

“Uhh....” Hyunjin looked down at the picnic mat where you both sat, eyeing the basket filled with a few loaves of bread you had personally baked and brought, along with a few drink bottles, cookies, and fresh fruits. “Why are they waddling over here?”
