1983 Twelve had escaped from Hawkins' laboratory with Eleven, but unfortunately their paths separated and Twelve walked in the woods without direction. It was raining and the little girl was walking in the road with her lab gown and barefooted, when suddenly a car had to stop abruptly to not run over Twelve.

“Oh my! Sweetie are you okay?” A woman asked while getting out of the car.
