Diagnosed with hyperthymesia, I remember nearly every moment of my life. So, when God told me I’d reincarnate, I thought, why not use it to my advantage?
But right now… my head hurts. My body feels weird. And why is it so bright?
Squinting against the sunlight, I forced my eyes open. The room came into focus—ornate walls, velvet drapes, and a chandelier overhead.
“Gasp! Princess! You’re awake!” A woman in a Victorian maid uniform hovered by my bedside, eyes wide with shock.
“Princess?” I croaked.
“I must inform the doctor at once!” She bolted for the door.
“Wait—aaand she’s gone.” I sighed, rubbing my temples. Princess? What is this, some medieval cosplay convention?
Before I could process anything else, a man in old-fashioned doctor attire bustled in, the maid trailing behind.
“Princess! You’re awake!”
“Yeah… hi?”
He examined me briefly before declaring, “She seems perfectly fine. No visible injuries.”
“Great. Mind answering something for me?”
“Of course, Princess.”
“Who are you, and who am I?”
The maid gasped, eyes rolling back as she fainted dramatically onto the floor.
“Whoa! What’s wrong with her?”
“P-Princess, you don’t remember?” The doctor stammered.
“Not a single thing,” I deadpanned, accidentally doing the “period” motion with my hand.
“Oh no! The princess has amnesia!” He sprinted out of the room.
“Wait! And there he goes.” I threw my hands up. “What’s with people running when I’m not done talking?”
Turning to the maid, who was groaning back to consciousness, I tried to help her up.
“Princess! I must report this immediately!”
“Oh, no, you don’t!” I grabbed the hem of her skirt just as she tried to bolt. “You’re not running off on me this time.”
She froze, wide-eyed.
“Now, start talking,” I demanded. “What kind of weird fairy tale mess did I wake up in?”
