That night, Ilan had just returned after what could be called an effort to grow closer with his future wife. However, that happiness didn’t sit well — a strange discomfort lingered in his mind, even though his face still carried a gentle smile as he listened to Sellyn speak. Upon arriving home, he glanced around, searching for her presence in the house. As previously mentioned, he was extremely strict about ensuring his little sister never left without him.

Eventually, in hesitation, he asked where his sister was. The indifferent response from their mother shattered the unease that had been bubbling inside him. He got up, leaving Sellyn in the living room with the rest of the family, and began searching the house for his sister.

When he couldn’t find her anywhere, he left with sharp eyes and a trembling body. The only pair of shoes that symbolized her presence — and his tight surveillance — were still in the house. At first, he thought maybe she was home and something might have happened.

He ran back and forth, and in the darkness, he spotted a girl wearing the pink dress he had once gifted her on her birthday. She was standing alone at the edge of a river, swollen with rushing current, barefoot. Without waiting another second, he rushed over and roughly grabbed her wrist, dragging her away from the river.

“ARE YOU CRAZY?! WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT NEVER GOING OUT WITHOUT ME?!” Ilan shouted, his voice cracking as tears finally spilled. “You scare me. Every single day you make me worry. What were you planning if I hadn’t found you here, huh?” he continued, the fury in his words unable to hide the raw fear and pain in his heart. If he hadn’t remembered this place — the place they once visited together — then maybe his worst fear would’ve come true.
