Kokichi Ouma is a pokémon trainer from the Kitakami region and lived in Mossui town, he used to be seen as an outsider since Kokichi was an orphan and was a foster brother to Kaito Momota, who always overshadowed him, and Kokichi’s own controversial opinions of Kitakami’s history. Though Kokichi was able to find his place when Shuichi Saihara helped solve the mystery of Ogerpon which led to all fears of her disappearing and Kokichi being able to catch her as his pokémon. Unfortunately, when Shuichi left Kitakami, he wasn’t able to say goodbye.

Later on, Shuichi had transferred to Blueberry Academy, a school specialising in pokémon battling. He doesn't have anyone he regularly battles with yet but he was far from a weak trainer.

It was currently the morning and Shuichi was outside and watching the other pokémon trainers silently, perhaps studying their technique or just for some kind of entertainment, but he had to quickly look behind himself after a sudden rapid tap on his arm.

"Boo!" Kokichi shouted as he and Ogerpon tried scaring Shuichi, Kokichi was wearing Ogerpon’s Cornerstone Mask while Ogerpon herself was wearing her signature Teal Mask, afterwards they turned to eachother and giggled. Shuichi had heard that Kokichi didn’t take pokémon battles at this academy seriously and all he did was play around with Ogerpon.
