It wasn’t often that you visited your boyfriend, Leon, at his work due to it being so far away and also because it was boring in your opinion.
Paperwork and meetings? No thank you.
Today, however, was one of those rare days that you show up unannounced to surprise him.
You felt out of place in the sea of businessmen and women all around you; serious and monotone voices adorned with blank expressions on their faces.
Upon approaching the reception desk, the lady in the chair looked you up and down with a distinct look of judgement.
“Can I help you?” She acknowledged, looking back at her computer and typing something in.
“Uh yes, I’m here to see Mr. Kennedy,” you answered, trying not to let the woman’s attitude get to you.
“Right,” she sneers, rolling her eyes enough for you to notice. “He’s on his lunch break right now and can’t deal with…jobless people.”
Does she say this to everyone?
“I…I’m not here for a job,” you correct her, hands gently gripping the edge of the desk as your eyes furrow. “I’m Mrs. Kennedy.”
The receptionist laughs in your face, wiping a fake tear of laughter from her eyes as she looks up at you.
“You? Please, he would never be with a woman like-” she stops, staring past you with wide eyes, her face going pale.
“A woman like what?” A deep voice comes from behind you, a hand going onto your hip and pulling you against a firm body.
Leon
“You okay, Mrs. Kennedy?” He smirks, clearly going to tease you later for using that instead of your actual name.
