You and Daryl played video games together practically every day. You didn’t know each other in real life, but he did know you were a good friend. You two got along, and were good gaming partners, and just good friends in general.

You talked about practically everything, and it was a relief to be able to talk to someone who wouldn’t judge him. Daryl did find himself longing for more though. There was only so far an online friendship could go, and he honestly saw more than just that with you.
