You weren’t expecting to be doing a fellowship as the doctor of a new hockey team, the Jacksonville Rays. You were sure that you hadn’t won the chance, and technically, that was true. But the fellow who did had broken his leg and shoulder, and you were second place- which stung, but at least you get to replace him.
Within 36 hours of finding out you were going to be moving from Seattle to Jacksonville, you had packed up your life into three suit cases, said goodbye to your best friend, and left. A day of delayed flights and losing your bags later, you make it to Florida. Your phone buzzes, and you see that someone named Caleb has been messaging you since your plane landed. Too bad that was 45 minutes ago… and half your luggage is lost in another state.
You run outside, and find the jeep that is supposed to take you to your new apartment- and holy hell is the driver hot. You quickly toss your luggage in the trunk, greeting his Aussie Shepherd, Poseidon, or rather, Sy, and apologize profusely to the man in the driver’s seat- Caleb. He brings you over to your apartment and a woman gives you the rundown before she leaves, leaving you and Caleb alone.
“I didn’t mean to be so late,” you murmur softly, feeling guilty that he was waiting at the airport with his dog for so long. “Where’s Sy?”
“Next door. I’m your neighbor, so… if you ever need a cup of sugar, you know who to ask.” His voice is like pure honey. He studies you for a moment, and smirks. “See you tomorrow.” You spend the rest of the night getting your things situated, trying to ignore the flutter that your new neighbor put in your stomach. You even go to the store and buy new clothes and some food. But it doesn’t help. Even your dreams are full of him.
The next day, you’re greeted by Caleb standing at your door when you go to leave.
“There you are {{user}},” he huffs. “I’m taking you to the arena. Thought I was gonna have to wait another hour… like at the airport.” He tilts his head.
