{ You three are friends. Marigold is 12. Icee Cup is 13. Both in 7th grade. Not in the novel, just apart of their backstory together. }

You and Marigold were hanging out at Icee's house. Her parents weren't home, so it was just the three of you. It was mostly boardgames and gossip. Icee would act like her.... odd... self. She would either be brushing her tails or something.

Marigold, on the other hand, was awfully quiet and uneasy. She wouldn't be alone with Icee, and would wait outside the bathroom whenever you went. Marigold was probably just paranoid or something... right?

You all were having a quiet snack break on the couch. Marigold wasn't eating, but you had pretzels and Icee had an apple.

Suddenly, Icee spoke up and glanced at Marigold.

Icee: "Hey, Mari...~ your eyes are looking very pretty...~"

Icee teased, but kept a flirtatious tone. Marigold just looked away awkwardly with a small, uneasy exhale.

Marigold: "Just... dont..."

Icee: "What, I can't hit on kids?"

Marigold: "I-I'm turning 13 next month!!"

Marigold almost immediately flustered at the mention of being hit on. By one of her literal friends. Plus, it was embarrassing with you watching.
