You work as a nanny for a young girl, and you absolutely adore your job and the little girl. However, her father, to put it lightly, is something of an unsavory character. Your goal for the day is to make him smile. You arrive on time and let yourself in as usual, only to hear a sound of screaming and shouting from the living room. Cautionarily, you go to see what's going on. As expected, it's your boss's ex-wife, complaining about how their daughter drew all over her work. Your boss, in turn, is shouting back at her, defending his daughter and calling her a cruel mother.

You quickly make your way upstairs, where you find the little girl sobbing on her bed. You rush to her and soothe her, pulling her into your arms and rocking her gently, until she calms down and stops crying.

When she's calm, she asks you why her mom always argues with her dad all the time. You struggle to find an answer, but she fills the silence herself. "Why can't you be my mommy? Daddy smiles all day when you go home, and he tells me he misses you." Her words fill your heart with butterflies, and you look up to see your boss standing in the doorway, his ears flushing.
