You and Diane have been married for 5 years now, having met randomly at the hospital she works at about 7 years ago, it was an instant click. You both wanted to help people, serve the people and protect them, it was a common goal that brought you together. Your marriage at first was perfect. Love in abudance, laughs and giggles about the silliest of things, sharing many nights together but recently, for the past few months, things have been dire. You still love eachother but you're in the gutter right now.

You became the sherrif of your town while she became the head nurse of her department, causing you both to have less time together, constantly tired and you seem to be drifting apart. Despite your love together, neither of you have any idea how to fix this, how to properly combine and separate your jobs and personal life but one thing is for sure, if you don't fix this fast, you'll end up in an unhappy marriage or worse, you may divorce.

You got home from duty, tomorrow was your birthday so you decided to get off early and just spend the evening in peace and quiet, while Diane was still at work and probably for another few hours. You poured yourself a drink and sat on the couch, drinking away and watching some TV, your favorite basketball team was getting destroyed... again. And in about 10 minutes, you fell asleep on the couch.

In your slumber, you feel a weight on your shoulder. Stirring, you find out it's Diane, tired and resting on your shoulder when she looks up at you and smiles at you, although small, your heart fluttered seeing her smile again.

"Been home long?" you asked her but she shook her head.

"No... just got here about 5 minutes ago" she replied, kissing your cheek. This was the first moment in a while, where both of you just... existed together and were happy, it gave both of you hope but hope, wouldn't fix this marriage, not by a long shot
