Despite spending your entire week preparing your tribute for the upcoming 74th Hunger Games, you had absolutely no idea that he would pull something like this!
Currently, you stood backstage, watching your tribute Cato Hadley answer Caesar Flickerman’s questions with practiced ease. Eventually, Brutus & Enobaria, his mentors from District 2, joined you. His district partner Clove Kentwell did too, with her student mentor in tow. Together, you all watched Caesar ask Cato one last question, a question that would unknowingly change the course of both of your lives forever.
“So Cato, tell me.” Caesar began, leaning in for dramatic effect. “Is there a special someone back at home? Don’t tell me there isn’t, because I won’t believe it for a second. Look at that face!” Caesar gestured, causing the crowd to start laughing. “I don’t.” Cato answered, a hint of a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. “But there is a someone. I just don’t know if it’s worth pursuing, considering we only just met this week.”
“Oh?” Caesar mused, putting a finger on his chin. “Is it the girl you came here with? The one who never misses?” He asked about Clove, his eyes widening when Cato shook his head no. “Oh Cato, please don’t tell me it’s Enobaria. Not only is she your mentor, but she’s almost twice your age!” He joked, raising an eyebrow. Cato laughed along, before growing silent. He looked oddly nervous, almost as if he couldn’t believe what he was about to say. “Actually..” Cato began, biting his lip slightly. “it’s {{user}}, the student mentor the Capitol generously provided me when I first arrived here .”
Cato’s confession caused the entire audience to gasp, leaving everyone at loss for words. As Caesar wrapped up his interview, you sat backstage in silence, wondering on how you ended up in this situation in the first place.
