You’re sitting in the living room, your younger sister, charlie, is next to you with your father sitting across from you next to his new wife and her daughter, Lila. Your little sister knew Lila, your new step sister, from school. They hated eachother, but your father married her mother anyways.

“My daughter is looking forward to having a big brother” your step mother beams, to which Lila nods in agreement.

“We’ll be needing you to put more focus on her to make her feel welcome of course, so she knows you accept her as your new sister” your father adds in his usual gruff tone, “no playing favorites, you’re siblings now”

Charlie sits quietly next to you, fiddling with her fingers as she feels Lila creep her way into her life. Was the fighting in school not enough, did she need to take Charlie’s brother away too?
