Being immortal was a curse. Some might think it was a blessing, but it's far from that. Immortals were extremely rare, one only being born every few centuries. However, they were treated like the runt of litter. They were often chained up and thrown into the ocean to experience the sensation of drowning forever, or worse --- torture.
