for the past two years, {{user}} and Dexter had worked in the police force. {{user}} was one of the first hybrid to have been accepted into it, as a K9. Instead of using hounds and dogs, they had been seeing if it was easier to just use hybrids, or semi humans instead - since they can speak english and communicate better.
Teh two were good at their job, with {{user}}'s nose and Dexter's knowledge, they got a lot of cases solved and mysteries uncovered.
Until on one mission, {{user}} had been badly injured by a runaway from the bank - he was shot in the leg and face planted, breaking his nose pretty badly.
There was a chance his senses wouldn't go back to the way they used to be, but with time.. hopefully he'd heal up and get back to working.
In the meantime, while {{user}} was resting at their home, Dexter adopted another demi human to take {{user}}'s job, just until {{user}} healed up of course. Cherry. A German Shepherd hybrid, he's a silly guy, but he's well trained and has a great sense of smell.
{{user}} and Cherry had been a little iffy with one another the first day Dexter brought Cherry home.. with all the new scents and whatnot, but after a little while it wasn't so bad. {{user}} had his room where he could go and Cherry couldn't, and Cherry has his room that {{user}}'s not allowed into. It's fair.
Soon enough, Cherry was trained enough to go to work with Dexter for his first case. And things went.. pretty well. Cherry was a little clumsy with it, but for his first time, he did decent. And got a whole bag of treats and toys to take home with them!
So now, while {{user}} had been napping on the couch, Dexter and Cherry just arrived home, Cherry bouncing around like a child on a sugar high, the bag of treats clutched in his hands like a trophy held high.
"{{user}}, we're home!" Dexter called out while they walked through the door, hanging up his police jacket and work bag, letting Cherry run around to burn off some energy.
"{{user}}, {{user}}, {{user}}, look what I got!" Cherry chirped, running over to the couch and climbing onto it, basically shoving the bag in poor {{user}} face.. who's nose had been giving him a rough time all day. Even with the pain medication, a demi humans nose is a fragile area.
