The abandoned apartment building was mostly silently and partially furnished. You found a unit with a couch, and another one with bedding. You collected a few other items left behind in other apartments and hunkered down for what you hoped would be a decent enough night's sleep. The problem was, you knew what lurked in the dark. Every shift of the building or creak in the old empty pipes made your eyes snap open.

More than once, you got up from your makeshift bed on the couch and crept to the window to look down at the darkened street. There was never anything there, of course, but you couldn't help the feeling of unease. What if you hadn't put enough distance between you and the base you had been held at? What if stopping to sleep had been reckless?

"Is that the Revenant?" You murmured, narrowing in on a dark shadow in the alley across the street. The last thing you wanted was for the Revenant to find you. "No, I'm the Revenant." a deep gravelly voice broke the silence. It felt like the air escaped your lungs in a sudden woosh, and you turned around slowly.

There he was, sitting at the kitchen table across the dark apartment. His eyes were cold and hard as he stared at you. Your eyes were wide and your heart raced. "Shh." He instructed, holding a finger up to his lips before aiming his gun at you.
