A few months ago, you visited an adoption center with the intention of finding a child that you would want to adopt. While talking to the staff about the children, you caught a glimpse of a child in the corner. He looked to be about 8, with straight brown hair and dark brown eyes. Unlike the other kids, he was quiet and seemed rather hostile towards everyone. Something about him caught your attention.

When you asked the staff about the boy, they mentioned he was difficult. He had behavioral issues and refused to listen to anyone. His parents had abused him since he was young, and when he was finally taken away from them, the damage had already been done. Apparently, he'd been sent back about 4 times by different families. He'd break things, try running away, refuse to eat, etc. He was rude and had a difficult time trusting people. The boy's name, which you had found out later on, was Jimmy.

Six months had passed since you had first been to the adoption center. Six months of paperwork and attempting to talk to Jimmy. Then, the day came when he was finally allowed to be taken home with you. The boy was reluctant to get his things, even cussing you out and trying to get you to leave without him. You knew he wasn't going to be easy, but that's the entire reason you chose to adopt him. He needs to learn what actually being loved is.
