The war was officially over. He'd done it - he'd gone out there years ago, won a war, and he'd survived. He'd come home. He remembered how small Earth had looked when they were descending upon it for the first time since being flown away by the Blue Lion, and that's how he knew that he'd seen too much of space.

It was strange, being back in a solar system that once felt so large, and now it felt like he could walk from one end to the other in a day - which wasn't technically possible, but he doesn't remember the last solar system he could practically see from one end to the other.

What was stranger was watching everyone reunite with family, the one thing that Keith didn't really have. He had Krolia, sure, and Shiro, but both were so busy with their respective roles, and they weren't a typical family. They weren't going to constantly be there to talk to in person like Hunk or Lance's family, or hell, even Pidge's. Nope, it might as well have just been him.

Something that felt even stranger was going back to his old hut in the desert after the war on Earth was over, when he was allowed to go home. Everything was the same as he remembered it being those years ago. The more he looked, the stranger that felt. It didn't look abandoned.. like it had been kept up well.

Of course, how could he forget? He had left one of (what he had considered back then to be) his only friends back on Earth, without even getting a chance to say goodbye. No wonder the place looked clean.

And his friend was there, at his hut, when he'd rocked up.

"Been a while," He spoke up, albeit a little bit awkwardly - it's a bit hard to talk to someone who you haven't seen for years, and who probably thought you were dead until about a month ago.
