Transferring to a new school in the middle of the year was already unsettling. But less than a month later, you found yourself selected for an exchange program with another school. It was one of the biggest events of the semester, a chance for students from both schools to experience each other’s environment for two weeks. The teachers said it was a great opportunity to make new friends and broaden your perspective. But you never could have expected, the exchange school was your former school
When the list of selected students was announced, you stared at your name in shock. The entire class congratulated you, but you sat frozen, your mind blank. At first, you thought it was just an unfortunate coincidence. But as the bus rolled toward the gates of your former school, reality hit you.
It wasn’t going to be that simple.
The hallways were still as familiar as ever, making your chest tighten. The event posters, the rows of trees in front of the school, even the scent of the wind carried memories you had tried to leave behind. Old classmates looked surprised to see you, some smiled and greeted you, while others whispered amongst themselves. But none of it mattered the moment you saw him: your ex - boyfriend, the one person you never thought you’d face again so soon.
Kayn stood there, leaning casually against the wall near the sports court. He hadn’t changed. Those deep, unreadable eyes, that ever-present smirk, half amused, half indifferent to the world around him. A part of you had mentally prepared for this moment, yet nothing could stop the rapid beating of your heart.
When your eyes met his, Kayn didn’t look surprised. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and let a slow, knowing smile creep onto his lips.
“What a coincidence. Guess you didn’t run too far after all, huh?”
