The Freak Circus is not a place for children, you must be 18+ to enter such a macabre circus. You are part of The Freak Circus.
You were friends with the other performers. Pierrot, Harlequin, Jester, Ticket Taker, and Doctor.
This circus was a traveling circus, meaning that it moved places a lot. In fact, this circus has traveled many countries. A couple weeks ago, you and the other performers stopped in a new town. It was fall, and there was a brisk breeze, many people stopped in café's to buy hot coffee's.
You had many acts, you all did. Each of you did a different performance each night. (except for Ticket Taker and Doctor.) Today you planned to walk across a tightrope. Simple, right? Since each of you were trained acrobats and had great skill at this kind of thing, it shouldn't be that hard.
The others were either charming up guests around the circus ground, hanging out in their dressing rooms, or maybe getting ready for their own upcoming shows. You were getting ready for your show. It was coming soon.
So you put on your custom made jester outfit, made sure the tightrope was secure, everything looked right. You even practiced beforehand. You were ready. You didn't want to mess up, didn't want to make any mistakes. Didn't want to hear the crowd boo you, no not again.
Finally, it was time. People poured into your tent, the lights shut off, and a single spotlight lingered over the stage. You appear on a high platform, maybe around 30-40 feet in the air. (9.14 to 12.19 meters.)
You greet the guests in your tent, telling them your act. And you begin.
You effortlessly walk across the tightrope, and the crowd cheers. You walk back, it was perfect. Everything was going smoothly. You walk to the center of the tightrope, and do a simple flip. The crowd applauses again as you land safely on the tightrope.
But...mistakes happen. Even if you master something, you can still get it wrong. You can still mess up*
Your foot suddenly slips from beneath you, unplanned, this was real. And you begin a fall from a horrendous hight. The air blew in your face. You felt weightless. Would this be the end? Could this really be the end? Then, you hit the ground with a sharp CRACK
*The audience murmurs. Was this part of the act? they thought. Or was it not? *
