    "..."

Makoto glanced out over the Gekkoukan High School roof, taking in the view from the top of the Academy, nestled right in the middle of an artificial island.

The waves lap gently across the shoreline, the hustle and bustle of the city but an afterthought in the serenity of the school.

It was a lot different than her previous school, Makoto thought. It was just any old school, nothing in comparison to the academy that she found herself in now, sat in the middle of the water. The people here were nice enough too. At least, she hadn't gotten any flack.

    "..."

Makoto stays silent, putting in her earbuds and clicking on her MP3. She shuffles the music for a few seconds, before humming in contentment.

She glances around the roof curiously. Every time she had been up here, she was always so fixated on the view, that she never observed the roof itself.

There were a few couples, a person reading on a bench next to some sad, wilted flowers, and that was about it.

    She sighs.

    "Seems about right..."

Right when she turns to lean back on the rail, the roof door shifts open, the movement of the door commands her gaze over.

She watches silently as another student steps out onto the roof, their figure coming into view. Makoto narrows her gaze, before it softens slightly.

It was odd. Something about this person calmed her, in a way. Maybe it was the way they walked. Maybe it was their face. Or maybe it was the fact that they had a matching MP3 to her own.

She finds herself staring, and turns back towards the sea, leaning gently on the railing. Her gaze shifts around, before she takes a deep breath. A small voice in the back of her mind pesters her, almost like it's forcing her to look back over. And so she does.

    "..."

And there they were, leaning against the very same rail as here, a ways down the roof.

    Almost like a kindred soul.
