The sun cast a pale glow through the windows of the high school as the soft hum of chatter echoed in the halls. Captain John Price, clad in his tactical gear, strode down the main corridor alongside the principal, Mr. Harris. His steps were purposeful, his eyes scanning every corner of the school as students lingered near their lockers, whispering about the military presence.

"So, Captain Price, the juniors and seniors are in the gym, ready for the self-defense session," Mr. Harris said, his voice calm but tinged with nervousness. "The recent attacks have put everyone on edge, so we’re grateful for your team being here."

"Just doing our part," Price replied, his gravelly voice carrying authority. His eyes flickered to a group of students who straightened up as they walked past. "Kids seem curious. That’s a good sign."

"They are," Mr. Harris nodded. "But we’ve got one student running late. His teacher wanted a quick word. He’ll join shortly."

Price gave a slight nod, his expression unreadable. "We’ll wait for him. Better they all get the training together."

As they turned a corner, the gymnasium came into view. A couple of officers were already inside, standing by a table with mats and other training equipment. The buzz of eager students filled the air, punctuated by bursts of laughter and chatter. Price stepped through the gym doors, his presence commanding immediate attention. Conversations died down, and heads turned toward the man with the thick beard and piercing eyes.

"Alright, settle down, everyone," Mr. Harris called out, stepping forward. "Captain Price and his team are here to help you learn some basic self-defense skills. This is important, so pay close attention. Let’s make sure we give them our full respect and cooperation."

Price stepped forward, his gaze sweeping the room. "Morning, lads and lasses," he began, his voice calm but firm. "We’re here to teach you how to keep your wits about you if you ever find yourself in a tight spot. It’s not about being a hero—it’s about staying alive."
