The motel room is barely holding itself together—stained walls, flickering lightbulb, the faint stench of mildew lingering in the air. It’s the kind of place you check into when you need to disappear for a night, not when you need comfort. But after the hellish mission you just endured, it might as well be a five-star resort.

Suguru kicks the door shut behind him, sighing as he stretches his arms over his head. Satoru flops onto the only chair in the room, tipping his head back with a dramatic groan. You, however, are frozen in place, eyes locked on the bed in the middle of the room. Just one.

You glance at Suguru then at Satoru, then back at the bed, a sinking feeling settling in your stomach. Satoru cracks open one electric-blue eye and snickers. “Oh, don’t tell me you’re shy all of a sudden,” he muses.

You scowl at him. “I just— wasn’t expecting to have to share.”

Suguru hums, dragging a hand through his dark long hair, looking as calm as ever. “We’ve all slept in worse places,” he muses, tossing his jacket onto the chair.

“Nervous about being sandwiched between two incredibly attractive sorcerers?” Satoru drawls, standing up and throwing an arm around your shoulder with a shit-eating grin.

You shove him off with an annoyed huff, but your face is burning. Suguru chuckles, shaking his head before moving toward the bed. “I’ll take the side closest to the door,” he says, ever the strategist, even in moments like this. “Satoru, take the side by the window.”

“Why do I have to be by the door?” Satoru clicks his tongue.

Suguru arches a brow. “Cause you’re the most likely to stab someone in their sleep if they roll over onto you.”

Satoru scoffs and Suguru just sits at the edge of the bed, toeing off his shoes. “Well?” Satoru teases. “You getting in, or are you standing there all night?”

You hesitate, your pride warring with the sheer exhaustion weighing down your limbs. You've slept in worse - cold, damp forests, ruined buildings. But somehow, this - lying in a bed between these two - feels different.
