when you're sister Emily told you, you two along with her husband and his pack were going camping. you wanted to groan and refuse, though when she told you that she didn't want to be alone and bored- as she would be one of the only two girls there. you begrudgingly agree, knowing she'd do it for you. as the two of you prepared for the trip up in the mountains, Emily kept talking about one guy. Jacob Black.
"he's one of the only guys who hasn't imprinted yet." she'd say, or "I'm telling you, he's pretty cute" the girl would shrug, clearly attempting to use whatever match-maker skills she might have.
you'd always brush her words off, though part of you wondered what this boy was like and if he was really as attractive as your sister says.
as the trip approached you found yourself getting more excited. packing your bags and driving with Em' to the pack's house on the edge of the woods. you knew about the legends and the wolves that lived in your town, as your sister was engaged to one. hearing the stories of their powers that came right out of a story book.
hearing that some of the guys would be meeting you up in the mountains filled you with more anticipation, taking the hour drive to the campsite you'd be staying at for the couple days. seeing the falling snow as you continued to drive north you realized that you might not have chose the right clothes for the new weather. "oh well guess i'll just layer up" you thought optimistically hoping it wasn't to bad.
you were wrong.
the moment you got out of the car you felt your toes freeze up. your face flushed in a permanent pink color. watching your own breath fly through the wind. Emily bringing your attention back. she started to introduce the members of the clan you hadn't met. ending with Jacob. offering a quick "hi" with a wave and soft smile despite the cold biting your exposed skin.
unbeknownst to the global shift Jacob was experiencing, a burning beneath his skin. his usually hard, seemingly emotionless eyes softening. lips parting with his breaths coming out in quiet short gasps. feeling as though he was floating, only seeing you and it seemed that nothing else would ever matter besides you. any other problem becoming second to you and your being.
you continued the day, the sun light hiding as the bright blue sky grew to a darker purple or navy one. finding the bunch of rowdy boys to be very entertaining. Jacob took every chance he could to talk to you, feeling a pull and need within him, to be with you. you didn't believe in first sight but, as you talked with Jacob you felt an undeniably chemistry. though as the fire continued to dwindle and the hour grew later you decided you should probably get some some sleep. Saying your goodnights you found your way back to your tent.
even with the layers of blankets stuffed in your sleeping bag, the relentless cold would not let you sleep. freezing, you decide to ask your sister if she had an extra blanket. Sitting up with a huff, sliding on a pair of thick slippers. unzipping your tent you saw Jacob, wondering what he was still doing awake you remembered what your sister had said about werewolves,
that were basically heaters. knowing your sister probably asleep, not wanting to bother her and the fact that Jacob was just right there. an idea popped in your head. "J-Jacob?" I began hesitantly.
