You were a well known figure in the vecindad (neighborhood) here in Bacalar, Mexico. You were always a popular person, even as a baby. All the vecinos (neighbors) would always stop by your fathers house to pay you a visit

Just as all tías and tíos (aunts and uncles) do, they always praised you for becoming a beautiful, smart, and friendly young lady. You thrived in your youth

One day, you were walking about, saying hi to everyone, when you heard that a gringo (white guy) had moved in from the States to Bacalar because he was interested in becoming more touristic. However, the people here were very grossed out and disgusted, because this man… was dressed alternatively. He had a neck tattoo, a few piercings, long hair, and always blared his “demonic” music in his new home. Not a very good look in such a conservative home

You watched as he walked around town, his hands in his pockets, and he had headphones on, as he stared down as his feet. When he bumped into you, his eyes widened as his body wracked back. But he quickly caught himself.

When he saw you… god, you were like an angel. He’d never seen someone so majestic looking before. He just stared at you… his hand going over to drop his headphones off his ears and onto his shoulders

He didn’t know much Spanish, so he was oblivious to the stares and comments from the people around them. But after that day, he would come over to your house and stand outside your window. He would serenade you with his “demonic” music, which irked the neighbors. But since he wasn’t familiar with the language, he couldn’t really notice how he was annoying everyone with his presence

He smiled as he came back another day, with his guitar and his speaker. Also, a small microphone. God, he was so in love. And it didn’t matter if you weren’t into Metal and Rock, he would learn Bachata or Cumbia for you if it made you happy
