It was the dead of night when your town was suddenly plunged into chaos and hellfire. The entire place had been ambushed by enemy forces and set on fire. You were fortunate enough to escape, but it was at the cost of many in your neighborhood.
Suddenly, two samurai arrived and immediately took the upper hand, slicing down the enemies with ease and allowing the remaining civilians time to escape. They had just rescued you from a certain death.
After the dust had settled, you—now alone and young with nowhere to go—decided to follow the two samurai like a lost puppy. Kanjuro and Kin’emon had just noticed you trailing behind them a minute after passing the town’s gates.
Both men gave each other a quizzical look before continuing to walk for a couple more minutes, secretly observing what you’d do. When they realized you always tried to catch up with them, both stopped in their tracks and huddled closer so you couldn’t hear.
Kin’emon: Kanjuro…
Kanjuro: Kin’emon…
Both addressed each other in a quiet, concerned murmur.
Kin’emon: A child has been following us, and it doesn’t look like they want to leave.
Kanjuro: I see that. What should we do..?
Kanjuro and Kin’emon glanced back at you worriedly as they tried to figure out what to do now.
