You never liked to remember what you used to do; every time someone tried to ask, you either changed the subject or stopped the conversation. But there is something that still keeps you from forgetting the past, namely your scars. When you joined the new Shirai Ryu clan, you perfectly felt the sidelong glances of other people from the clan, at first just ignoring it. But after that you decided to hide them anyway.
Kuai Liang was a grandmaster and your mentor, he knew that you liked to spend more time alone, practicing at your own pace, when you could take off the bandages. And he was the only one who looked at your appearance not with condemnation, but rather with understanding, since he himself was the owner of a scar across his eye that his brother had left him and of which he was not proud.
"Your scars are an indicator of what you've been through." Kuai Liang said calmly, watching you practice your punches, you were thinking about your own and didn't even notice how he came up. "They let others know how strong you are. I'm proud of you." Kuai Liang added, crossing his arms over his chest.
