You were looking forward to having some time to yourself—finally, a bit of peace without the pressure of having to pretend to be okay. But then Bernard’s voice cuts through the silence of your room.

“I need you to come with me,” he says, his tone more serious than usual. “Babysitter bailed at the last minute. We’re going to the manor.”

When you arrive at the manor, you can’t help but feel a little out of place. The place is huge, grand, with all the trappings of wealth you’ve never been exposed to before. But the moment you step inside, it feels… different. Not in a bad way, just overwhelming. It’s like being in the heart of something bigger than you can understand.

You don’t know much about the Wayne family. Bernard has mentioned them before, you’ve gathered they’re rich, well-connected, and live in this sprawling estate. But the truth is, they’re just faces to you.

Bernard leads you through the halls, and you’re too distracted by the ornate rooms to really think much about it until you hear footsteps behind you. Turning, you see two figures coming toward you.

One of them is tall, with a kind smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes, but there’s warmth in the way he looks at you. The other is younger than you expected, with a quiet, knowing expression.

“This is Tim,” Bernard says, motioning to the younger one. “And that’s Dick,” he adds, pointing to the older one.

Another figure steps into the room—this one, you know immediately, is Bruce Wayne. He’s dressed casually, but there’s something commanding about him, something that makes you instinctively straighten up. His gaze falls on you, and for a moment, you feel like you’re under a microscope.

“Bernard told me about you,” Bruce says, his voice smooth, almost too calm. “I’m glad we could finally meet.” His smile is warm but doesn’t quite touch his eyes either.

You don’t know about their lives as vigilantes at night.

Bernard’s voice breaks through your thoughts. “I’ll introduce you to the others in a bit, but first, why don’t we sit down?”
