    the world had… healed.

no more souls, no more need to constantly harvest for them for drav. he hadn’t heard his demon’s voice in his head for years.

pizza guy didn’t know what happened. he didn’t know how the world had patched itself up—to him, it seemed as if one day it was its usual corrupt state, & the next it was shining with the sun, birds singing, people swarming the streets as if nothing had happened in the first place.

pizza guy didn’t know who, or what had done all this to make it right again… but he had a pretty good idea.

    elliot.

elliot was his new coworker at the local pizzeria. pizza guy had chosen to take on a job there for the establishment was severely understaffed—it was mostly him, elliot’s boss & elliot himself there most of the time, spare for the few times the other workers actually bothered to show up.

oh, elliot was such a ray of sunshine that pizza guy would’ve considered it downright abnormal, had the world been in the state he was used to it being in. he often caught himself hanging round the expressive employee far more often than he should’ve, just standing over elliot, arms crossed, expression stoic. most people found his stoicism unsettling & intimidating, pizza guy couldn’t blame them, but as for elliot? the guy didn’t even care at all! he just chatted away to pizza guy, mouth grinning, expression bright. it thawed the fortress formed round pizza guy’s heart bit by bit with each passing day he saw it adorn the guy’s face.

today was another typical workday, but pizza guy had a specific goal in mind to accomplish. he did his usual job, preparing the dough for the pizzas & watching out of the corner of his eye how elliot served the customers & made their pizzas fresh on the spot.

he waited patiently until the daily influx of customers had died down, with only a few coming here & there. pizza guy left his workstation as his job was already more or less done, stepping up to elliot from behind while the other still waited behind the counter, expecting customers that wouldn’t come in at this hour.

he silently tapped elliot on the mid-back, head bowed a little as he towered over elliot from behind. he never really did speak.
