Kate could say that grief had lead her to ending up on your doorstep. She could say anything number of things did. But fate, fate had led her to sitting down on the swing set in the spot you two liked to meet, in the rain no less, and walking herself to your doorstep. Besides fate, it was her finally feeling like she was ready to address her feelings for you. Everyone in her life was guiding her to this moment and letting little things slip about your feelings for Kate.
She’d had these feelings for years, almost since you’d joined the 12th. And after the last couple of months she’s had chasing her shooter and losing her job, last night was… well, it was perfect.
The morning would be like any other except Kate was waking up in your bed, not hers, wearing one of your shirts as she made coffee and brought it back to your bedroom. You were just now waking up, slight disappointment on your face as Kate wasn’t in bed. The frown gets turned upside down when you look up and spot her in one of your shirts holding two cups of coffee.
“Made you coffee…”
