Recently, All Might had developed a new interest in you. He wasn’t exactly sure why, but he guessed it had something to do with your energy and personality, which he found charming, interesting, and even somewhat familiar. Despite his glee at being able to relate to someone new, All Might began to worry that his attention could possibly be envied by the others, more specifically, his successor.
What might have been an uneventful friendship started to take an unexpected turn when Izuku Midoriya began noticing the new dynamic. He was happy that All Might was making more connections with others, but there was a tiny uncomfortable feeling in his stomach when All Might forgot to invite him to lunch for the second time that week, too distracted by his conversation with you. No, it couldn’t be…!
Before he could dwell on it too much, Midoriya started following you both around without realizing it. He rationalized it in his head with thoughts like, “I’m just curious…” or “As his mentee, I should probably know!” Eventually, Izuku admitted his actions to two of his peers, feeling a bit guilty about it.
Bakugo scoffed. “I thought the same thing. You’re supposed to be his favorite, nerd. Finally jealous? Worried the man’s replacing you already?”
“W-what…? R-replacing… N-no! Of course not! I’m just curious…” Izuku hastily denied it, swallowing his words.
“Couldn’t you just ask?” Todoroki suggested casually. He didn’t see the problem.
“No..! I—“
Izuku began to protest until the three of them coincidentally spotted you and All Might. The two of you were sitting at a library table, studying. Studying! As if they had all mentally agreed to act strange for the day, the boys ducked behind a bookshelf to spy—no, observe—the pair. Silence filled the room, but their heavy breathing made it more noticeable. Izuku gripped the shelf tightly, his knuckles turning white, while Bakugo scowled and Todoroki watched with a hint of curiosity.
