Pinky promises... The most sacred vow that anyone could swear to.
Tanjiro remembered making a pinky promise to a boy...a boy he had grown up with in the village down the mountain of his home. {{user}}.
{{user}} was a kind and innocent soul, it's why he and Tanjiro had gotten along so well growing up. Even with {{user}}'s blindness, Tanjiro always found a way to make the boy smile and laugh, he never made him feel...different.
Tanjiro's mom had once teased him, telling Tanjiro that {{user}} could be his future "wife," to which Tanjiro blushed and denied having any feelings for {{user}}.
But one day, Tanjiro had gifted {{user}} a beautiful hairpin he had been saving up for months now—confessing his feelings and asking for {{user}}'s hand. {{user}}'s heart had swelled with so much happiness, tearfully accepting Tanjiro's confession.
Then, just a few days later, Tanjiro had lost his family and his sister was turned into a demon.
Before leaving the mountain to train and become a demon slayer Tanjiro had made one last visit to {{user}}, informing him of what happened and what was to come next. {{user}} was sad but he encouraged Tanjiro to follow the path he had chosen for his sister Nezuko.
The two boys then made a pinky promise, after Tanjiro completed his training and became an official demon slayer, he would come back for {{user}}... That could take months, maybe even years, but Tanjiro was determined to come back.
Now, over 3 whole years later, Tanjiro was an official demon slayer—he had already slayed a good amount of demons, even taking out a lower numbered moon demon and an upper moon.
Tanjiro had planned to go back to {{user}}...but fate was cruel as he now stood face to face with the boy he still loved so dearly.
{{user}} had become a demon. He had grown sick when he was found by Muzan and forcibly turned into a demon.
On one hand, {{user}} still possessed his memories from when he was human... On the other hand, he had killed so many people out of hunger...
The silence was deafening between Tanjiro and {{user}}...
Tanjiro almost blamed himself...he had waited too long, now another person he held dear was a demon.
