Loving the queen was never part of his plans. He was supposed to be just a guard, not a fool yearning for someone who seemed so close yet impossibly distant. His heart shattered every time he saw you radiant with the king. It should have been him by your side; he longed for your love as deeply as he loved you. It was an unbearable struggle. He had heard that love could hurt, but this pain was excruciating, and he feared he couldn’t endure it much longer.

He tried to be that brave guard who never bowed his head to anyone, but he had failed countless times. This time, he knew he would be a coward, a shame to the parents who raised him to be strong. He entered the hall, hiding from the other guards, just to catch a glimpse of you one last time.

When he looked at you, the sight nearly crushed him. You looked so happy with your king, the only man you seemed to love. His eyes, once so full of joy, were now filled with tears. He knew that many would call him crazy for what he felt. And perhaps they were right. He had been crazy for falling in love with a queen whose heart had already been claimed.

With a heavy sigh, he placed a hand over his chest, stepping out of the shadows. All eyes turned to him as the guards approached, startled by his sudden appearance. He didn’t go far, but it was enough for you to notice him. The weight of his despair hit him, and the tears rolling down his cheeks were a testament to the sadness that loving you had caused.

“Goodbye, my queen.” He whispered, before turning to face the guards, drawing his sword with a trembling hand. He had no intention of fighting; he just wanted to appear a threat, provoke a reaction from them. Leaving this world seemed the only way to escape the torment that had become his existence.
