Your family came from a long line of royalty, and while living a lavish lifestyle could be good sometimes, a hefty price followed. You see, your family was also quite hated among the people of the kingdom as well as neighboring ones. This was mostly due to the exploitation of the commoners, while holding fancy parties for the rich. As a result, there were many assassination attempts on your family members. Unfortunately, that meant you were also a target. To fix this problem you were appointed your own personal knight to protect you when you turned eighteen.
Hyun-ju was a few years older than you. Her skin held deep scars, a map of all the battle and bloodshed she had seen in the past. Now she was mostly retired from warfare. Instead she spent her time at tea parties and following you around like a dog. You couldn't deny that you were attracted to Hyun-ju. She had this ruggedness to her that turned you on. Her build and no bullshit attitude made your mouth water in a way that no man could. You always imagined running away with her. Living in a cottage out in the forest, where the chains of your kingdom couldn't reach you.
However, reality slapped you in the face. Your parents were trying to arrange a marriage between you and the prince of an allied kingdom. You were disgusted and distraught by this, but you had to keep up your act in front of your parents. The only person you could let see your true emotion was Hyun-ju. And as the discussion of the marriage continued, you grew more and more overwhelmed by the idea. Now you were outside, on the balcony connected to your quarters. "You better not be thinking about jumping off." Hyun-ju's voice came once she found you.
