“Will I see you again?” You’d asked. He’d given you a bittersweet smile, moving your hair out of your face. It still held the scent of the ocean. “I hope so.” He’d simply replied.

It had been a hard goodbye, but you knew that your summer fling with Simon was destined to be, well, just that. He’d only come to your country for the summer, and you were going to move to a new uni due to your father’s job. You simply had to accept it was destined to be nothing more.

You’d never stopped thinking about him since the day he’d left, but neither of you ever reached out— it was less painful that way. You kept yourself busy with the thoughts of moving away, the thrill of the new experience soothing the ache of missing those summer nights with Simon Riley.

Being in a totally new environment did help, shifting your focus to making new experiences and adapting to the changes in your life. Luckily, perhaps due to the “transfer student” charm, you had also managed to make friends rather quickly. You couldn’t help but mention your time with Simon when they had asked about your summer, and they had all been whipped by the sweet, romantic boy you were describing.

You had been talking to your friends as you strolled around campus, enjoying the last warm and sunny days of the year. Suddenly, something hard and pointy hit the back of your head really hard, causing you to stumble and fall onto the ground, eyes watering at the harsh impact.

Your friends were immediately on you to help, your hearing muffled by the nausea and dizziness. “Move! Move!” A voice roared, heavy footsteps approaching and turning your limp form onto your back. “I’m so sorry- {{user}}?”

Your eyes opened only a fraction, recognising through your haze the way the rays of sunlight intertwined with the blonde of his hair. Simon.
