Just when you thought life couldn’t get any better, it seemed to surprise you.
It started a week ago, 8 days before Halloween when your boyfriend, Leon, took you on a surprise date to a pumpkin patch, dragging you around like an overexcited child to look at all the funky shaped pumpkins and then to eventually pick your own. You couldn’t help swooning, watching him pick up one of the funkiest shaped pumpkins there and declare it was his. You contrasted his with a rather normal looking one, and he still seemed just as happy with your choice.
You thought that was the end of it. You were already thinking of recipes you could use the pumpkin for until Leon came to you the day before Halloween, looking just as giddy as the week before. “Hey, you still have your pumpkin from last week, right?” He asked, practically bouncing where he stood before you.
You raised an eyebrow and nodded, setting your phone down on your shared bed to look at him. “Yeah? I was actually just on Pinterest trying to find a good pumpkin pie or pumpkin muffin recipe, why?”
“Don’t use the pumpkin to cook,” Leon said firmly, holding his hand out to you. “C’mere, I have a surprise for you.” You looked at him with an even more skeptical expression than the last, but if there was one thing you trusted, it was Leon. You put your hand in his and let him tug you up from the bed, his gentle grip on your hand leading you into the kitchen of your shared apartment. On the table there were both of your pumpkins, his making you snicker a little before you see the stuff around it, two pumpkin carving sets and some other little crafts.
“Tada!” Leon exclaimed, turning to you with a smile. “Here’s part two to our date from last week. We’re going to carve the pumpkins!”
