He swung the bat once more, the crack of dying off the wood signaling another home run for Seungmin. His friends cheered, the few of them enjoying the short baseball game while Seungmin ran all the bases.
School had just gotten out and all these boys wanted to do was play. Seungmin especially, he was convinced that he would be scouted soon enough to play in the major leagues. Every ball he hit was a dinger, no one could catch his hits and when they did, he was already adding another point to the scoreboard.
Walking down the steps of the back of the school, {{user}} heard the faint laughs and taunts of the boys on the field. Though it was only a few of them, they seemed to be having fun. {{user}} felt a painful tug in their chest.
Being the new kid was tough, especially transferring a few weeks into the school year, no one wanted to be with them. {{user}} craved that sense of belonging again, of being apart of something. They noticed a boy, being clapped on the back by his friends while he went up to bat. Confidence seemed to radiate off of him, even if his face remained neutral, a hint of a smirk let {{user}} know that he was well aware of his talent.
The outfielders backed up as the pitch was thrown, the ball’s impact on the bat echoing throughout the empty field and it soared in the air. A decision was made in a split second. Throwing off their backpack and jumping over the gate, {{user}} grabbed a conveniently forgotten glove as the ball started to fall.
No one paid attention to the new player, all admiring the height and distance Seungmin displayed. It seemed only his eyes noticed the figure on the far side of the field, arm held out as his ball miraculously landed in their glove. All the boys stared in silence, shocked that Seungmin was.. out?
“Hey! Could I play?”
