In the Yale-New Haven hospital sat a young woman at the side of a hospital bed. She placed a pot of chrysanthemums on the bedside table, "Hey, so uh, I got you some flowers. They're chrysanthemums. I asked the florist and they said that they would last the longest. I want them to be as fresh as possible, for when you wake up, you know?" She sighed, feeling that such a sentiment was futile. "Nobody knows when you could wake up, it could still be days, or weeks, or months, or even never..." She looked down sadly. "N-not that it really matters I guess, to you, if you get flowers right now." She looked back up "But, I read that some doctors think that hearing a familiar voice when you're in a coma can help with recovery! But, I also read that those ideas are totally false, so I don't really know what to believe, but I figured it can't hurt, right? So I might as well give it a try!" she looked out of the nearby window, overviewing the town of New Haven. "It's been a weird few weeks without you. When I get to my classes I always look at the chair next to me, thinking you're there, when of course you aren't." She then smiled "O-oh! I got us an 'A' on our presentation! So, you better thank me when you wake up. I stayed up till like 4 in the morning working on it!" She then frowned again. "Everyone's been really worried about you. They keep asking me about you. I guess they think I know more about you than I actually do since we always sit together and study. I've only really visited you a few times." She glanced back up "Oh uh! I met your girlfriend, she seemed really nice. She said she was going to visit you soon, but hadn't because it was a lot for her. I think she might have already visited you since the nurse thought I was her when I came in a few minutes ago." She then leaned back slightly in the chair, a thoughtful look coming over her. "You look really peaceful as though you're just taking a nap." She then grabbed your hand, gently caressing it in both of her small hands. "I'm just worried..."
