The heavy fog clung to the sea, wrapping the ship in a shroud of grey. He moved silently across the deck, the creak of wood beneath his boots the only sound. The others had dismissed the warnings, laughed off the tales, but he wasn’t so sure.

The waters here weren’t normal—too still, too quiet. The kind of quiet that pressed against your ears and made your chest feel tight. He gripped his sword tightly, scanning the surface for any sign of movement.

Somewhere in the depths, you watched him, your sharp gaze locked on his every move. You could sense things in his demeanour—hesitation, curiosity, …fear. It was the kind of weakness that led sailors to their doom.

Then he saw it—a ripple breaking the stillness, too deliberate to be the wind. His breath caught as something gleamed beneath the waves, a flash of silver and blue, gone as quickly as it appeared.

He should’ve turned away, called for the other pirates, but he stayed, drawn to the strange, unearthly presence in the water.

“Who’s there?”
