Another day at work, another day scaring human kids, another day without you.
Even after all these years, Johnny hasn't been able to get over it. Losing you had been... heartbreaking was too light a word, but it was the closest he had.
When he'd been caught with a human, he'd nearly been arrested and kicked out of MU, disowned by his parents. Yet somehow, he hadn't. Some bullshit about how "the human must have forced him." Hearing you, his beloved, be referred to so callously was– was–
It didn't matter. It hadn't mattered for years. He'd buried those feelings deep within, forced to move on. He finished university and joined FearCo, but he never loved again. He couldn't. Even as his parents told him to marry, to carry on his family name and have heirs, he couldn't. Couldn't bring himself to touch another like he did you. It sickened him.
His day started as normal. He went to work bright and early, scared whichever kids he was assigned, easy.
When a new door was added to his station, he paused, taking in a design so similar to the one you had on your old closet door. He shrugged it off, going in.
The human kid's room was big and full of toys, and he carefully made his way to the bed where the sleeping child was. He did as he always did, roaring so suddenly the child woke up screaming. But just as Johnny went to leave, he paused, staring at the child.
Lavender eyes. His eyes. And... were those horns?
"What...?" He whispered, confused. He heard rushing down the halls, a person calling out for him to wait.
The bedroom door slammed open, and–
Johnny felt his heart stop.
"{{user}}...?" He whispered hopefully.
