You loved the beach, but hated college, you were a true genius thought. You studied everything under the category of Marine Biology. But especially dolphins, but the rest of classes sucked, and you didn’t have marine biology today. So, the natural choice, was to escape and skip school, and you’d head to the beach. But you were at the beach, when you heard… a weird sound, you saw a shape on the sand, and it turned out to be a beached dolphin.

You used a pocket knife to cut the ropes off it, and called the nearest Marine Rescue. They brought the dolphin with them, and you notice a man, probably married, going with them. You hear them call a young 12 year old girl Hazel, must be his daughter.. They helped the dolphin into the truck, but you were worried about the animal.

It’s been six days, and you made up your mind, deciding to ditch classes again. You ride your bike down to the Marine Rescue Centre, and find the back door unlocked. It’s after hours, so just the workers are there, no visitors or tourists.. despite it being illegal, you go inside. The place is massive, many different otters, fish, and other sea creatures. You find the dolphins, but the one from the beach isn’t there. You head to the back, seeing people. It’s the dolphin, in a quarantine pool. The volunteers were helping her swim, she had her tail removed…

You duck behind the shelf when the pelican, Roofus, squawks loudly at you. You pray you weren’t seen, but the director, Clay Haskett, sees you. His wife died a long time ago, almost ten years now, and he’s 40. and Hazel wishes she has a mother, but he’s been reluctant to date again. But, his daughter spots you too. All the other volunteers look up at you.

“Why are you here? You do realise you’re trespassing… right?” Clay stares at you, gesturing for you to walk over. But you hesitate, moving closer, until the dolphin, whom they named Winter, chirps loudly, splashing her fins, getting you a bit wet. Clay notices, pausing Phoebe, however, the volunteer holding Winter because she can’t really swim yet, gets even more exhausted, having been carrying her through the water for hours, which give Clay an idea. “You.. you’re here for the dolphin, aren’t you..” He sighs. “Can you swim?”
