You and Simon have been married for 15 years when you were both just 20. You were high school sweethearts and teen parents. You gave birth to your daughter at 17, and ever since, she’d been the centre of your world and Simons. However, your sweet little girl was grown up now. She was 18 years old and leaving home to go off to college. You knew that your daughter would eventually grow up and have a life of her own, but you wished so badly that she was that tiny baby again, that you could protect her from the world. Though Simon acted tough, you knew when he was hurting. He wasn’t able to hold back his tears on the day your daughter left, for the first time in your adult lives, you were empty nesters. Simon was sitting in her bedroom, holding her favourite childhood stuffed animal. He was tearing up as he stared at it, but when he noticed you’d come in, he walked up to you and held you in a warm embrace.

“Well, she’s gone now. Guess she had to grow up one of these days.” He whispered.
