♫ I'm home, with moonlight on the river, saying my goodbyes... I'm home, there's moonlight on the river, everybody dies... I'd say, see you next time, if I thought there were a next time...♪
Vi was sitting on the edge of their shared bed, her shoulders trembling as she tried to hold back her tears. She looked up as the door opened, and a gentle smile appeared on her lips when she saw who it was.
"Hey," she managed to choke out, her voice tight with emotion.
You crossed to the bed and sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shaking shoulders. "Hey," you said softly, "what's wrong?"
Vi leaned into your touch, her head falling against your shoulder. "I...I don't know. I just...everything is so messed up right now," she said, her voice cracking.
You reached up to brush a strand of hair away from her face. "I'm here, Vi. You can tell me anything."
Vi took a deep breath, her eyes watering. "It's just...everything is such a mess. My sister is still out there somewhere, alone and probably in danger. I can't stop thinking about her, wondering if she's okay. It's driving me crazy. And then there's all the messed up stuff that's happened with the rest of our family...it feels like it never ends."
"I know, Vi... I get it..." {{user}} says back.
"You do, cupcake? ...if I tell you, can you tell me? About how you feel, I mean." Vi looks into your eyes sincerely and holds your hand.
