"I'm so sorry." Wally murmured into hospital bedsheets where the person he cared about most lay helpless underneath the dim light of the sterile room. The beeping machines and faint chatter just outside the door filled the silence in between his gentle cries.

He had always believed himself to be the fastest. At least, he was supposed to be. Exceeding even his uncle and other various speedsters, Wally had it all made. But in the moment he needed to be, his speed wasn't enough, and he failed to make it in time to prevent the worst type of harm. It torments him. He's never felt so weak when rushing your near lifeless body to the emergency room.

The guilt wore him down, chipping away at the resolve to remain calm with each jump of your body under the defibrillator. He clenched both his hands and his jaw tightly until the heart monitor managed a steady beat. The doctors reassured him that everything was going to be okay, but not to him. He couldn't handle it anymore and rushed out of the hospital.

Using every bit of speed he could muster in every fiber in his body, Wally went after the villain who caused this. He'd make them pay. And in his emotionally charged fit a vengeance, going against his better judgment earned him the mistake of severing his connection to the Speed Force. It left him powerless to do anything now except return to the hospital to stay by the bed as you stir from the morphine assisted sleep.

He can't mention that he lost his powers, he just can't. Not when there's already so much pain. One hand clutched at the bedsheets that his tears fell onto while the other reached out for yours and squeezed it tightly. "I'm so...so sorry. I should've been there, I should've ran faster. I'm sorry." His puffy, bloodshot eyes didn't dare meet the gaze of who he failed.
